Dear John,

It's not only a catchy tagline but something we believe wholeheartedly at Mercy For Animals.

We must speak up and defend everyone who is marginalized or exploited. When we fight for those who are oppressed, we help protect the rights of all.

Why is Juneteenth important?

On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers traveled to Galveston, Texas, to spread the news that the Civil War had ended and demand the freedom of people still enslaved. Juneteenth remains the oldest nationally celebrated holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

But the end of slavery did not mean an end to oppression. Since slavery was abolished, Black people have continually had to fight for their rights.

Today we stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and support Juneteenth celebrations across the country. We still have a long way to go.

Together, John, we can create a world where everyone is free from oppression.
