John,

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in America -- a moment certainly worth celebrating. But it’s also a day for us to reflect on the emotional and intentional work that still needs to be done to make this a country that is truly equitable for Black people.

We’re now two years removed from the protests that spread across the world in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. In those two years, we saw the defeat and de-platforming of Donald Trump, but we’ve also seen more failures to achieve justice in the criminal justice system, a rise in hate crimes targeting Black communities, and renewed attempts to shut Black voters out of elections through voter suppression and gerrymandering.

This all makes it clear that we should feel an urgency to promote equity and root out hate in this country.

Our team at All On The Line believes that systemic racism is real and prevalent in America. It pervades our communities, workplaces, and government. We’re taking a moment of reflection this Juneteenth to think intentionally about the part that each of us can play to not just say, but demonstrate, that Black Lives Matter.

As one of our online supporters, we recognize that one way many of you choose to make change is through financial contributions. We wanted to point you toward a partner that we’ve been proud to work with if today you’re considering contributing to an organization that’s doing impactful work in Black communities.

BLOC (Black Leaders Organizing for Communities) is working to lift up the Black citizens, leaders, and businesses in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin -- a critical region of focus in both the fights to fix our criminal justice system and restore our democracy. Donations to BLOC allow them to hold elected officials accountable and promote ways to make an impact at the community level.

Will you take action this Juneteenth by pitching in a few dollars to BLOC to fund their community-based organizing that can make lasting change for Black communities in Wisconsin? [[link removed]]
