Dear John:

It’s been a banner year for our collective activism! With the support of compassionate people like you, the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty:
  • won a landmark victory in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that will stop police from arresting people sleeping outside when there are no other options,overturning laws the court called “cruel and unusual punishment.”
  • helped almost 250,000 homeless children and youth gain access to education and other critical resources throughout the country;
  • advocated for state law reform to better support unaccompanied homeless youth, including enacting a New York State law protecting the 40% of homeless youth who are LGBTQ, through our new 50-State Index on Youth Homelessness; and
  • elevated housing and homelessness in the presidential campaign, and in Congress, with anew guide to educate candidates and elected officials. Four presidential candidates haveexpressly called for the human right to housing, and several members of Congress have now introduced legislation.
At a time of both crisis and opportunity, please renew your support today to continue the fight inside and outside the courts to secure the right to housing for all Americans.
