Hi team,

First and foremost, I wish a Happy Father’s Day tomorrow to all the fathers and father figures out there. I’d also like to extend my sincerest condolences to anyone grieving a loved one. As joyous and festive as Father’s Day can be for so many, it’s often a day of remembrance and reflection for others. I can certainly empathize with both.

So much of who I am as a person and candidate was instilled by my grandfather — who I called pawpaw — and my dad. With only a third-grade education, my pawpaw spent the 1940s driving a truck he couldn’t afford to own. But by the 1980s, he was helping me set up my own business as a youngster in Pine Bluff. His legacy? Entrepreneurship and hard work.

Day in and day out, I saw my parents make sacrifices to build a better life for our family. And how they intentionally cared for our neighbors, friends, and church. It’s how my wife and I are trying to raise our three girls now, with those deeply Arkansan values from my childhood: Faith, Hope, and Hard Work.

I always say that I’m blessed to be a #GirlDad, and I’m just as blessed to spend another Father’s Day with the girls and my wife. I don’t take these moments for granted, and I hope I’m doing nearly as good a job as a father as my father has done with me.

My family has called Arkansas our home for more than 200 years, and that history explains my deep and abiding love for this state, a love passed down across seven generations (and now an eighth, thanks to my children). My pawpaw’s love for Arkansas was shared with my father, and they both modeled that love with me. This campaign is a tribute to them and their legacies above all.

Love you, Dad. Miss you, Pawpaw. Happy Father’s Day, everyone. Thanks for reading.

Chris Jones
