Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I remained in Washington, D.C. for votes in the U.S. House of Representatives! I had a wonderful time meeting with AIPAC to discuss the need for continued U.S.-Israel relations and assistance to Israel. I will always stand proudly with our ally, Israel!

Arizona is proud to be home to Axon's headquarters! It was a pleasure to meet with Axon to discuss ways to improve public safety and issues facing their industry as they work to develop products that can save lives.

I met with the Arizona Builders Alliance to discuss how inflation, labor shortages, and supply chain issues have been affecting their industry.

It was a pleasure to meet with the National Federation of Independent Business to discuss how inflation, workforce shortages, and supply chain disruptions are impacting businesses in Arizona.

I had a great time speaking to the Rural Electric Cooperatives students about my work in Congress and issues facing Arizona’s rural co-ops.

GET THE FACTS: Nearly 240,000 Migrant Encounters at the Southern Border in May

The Biden Administration keeps breaking the wrong kind of records! In May, there were an overwhelming 239,416 migrant encounters at our southern border. This is the highest monthly number ever recorded. Our Border Patrol agents are overwhelmed. The growing number of migrant encounters prove that President Biden and House Democrats' open border policies have incentivized migrants to come across our southern border. 

Around the District 

Monica from our office presented the West Valley Coalition on Aging with a Congressional Recognition for their work in assisting aging adults and their families in our community.

Monica from our office visited the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute and its Camp O’Connor program, which teaches middle school students about the branches of our government and the legislative process. Monica spoke with the students about working in Congress and how our office serves the people of AZ-08!

Casework Highlight

A constituent reached out to our office, concerned she would not receive her passport in time for upcoming travel. After contacting the U.S. State Department, we were able to get her an appointment at the Western Passport Center, where she received her passport on the spot. The constituent was able to make her travel as planned.

Encouraging Story

This weekend is Father's Day! I am pleased to share this story about a father with dementia walking his daughter down the aisle on her special day. Knowing that the options on having her father at her wedding were limited, Kay Eskridge secured a private room at Amber Creek Inn Memory Care, where her father, Jim, is a resident, and asked the facility's Director of Community Relations to officiate the wedding. It is heartwarming to see that this father-daughter duo did not let dementia hinder their enjoyment of the special day.

Our office is hosting Mobile Office Hours on June 30, 2022, at the White Tank Library from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM AZ Time. Our casework team is ready to answer your questions and assist you with individual issues involving federal agencies.
