Dear John,
We learned yesterday that the San Francisco Board of Elections apparently won’t certify the results of last week’s election until July 15. Its latest count shows us 580 votes out of the second place finish that would place us in the general election.
Are you able to support our work holding Pelosi accountable while we await the final results?
Yesterday, I joined Steve Grumbine with Status Coup for an hour-long interview. We discussed the role of labor unions in entrenching corporate politicians, the character assassination strategy on which Pelosi relied to secure her re-election in 2020, and the particular figures in San Francisco politics who enabled it.
Can you contribute today to enable our efforts to continue informing the public conversation about issues that corporate news media overlook?
I also shared a memorable half hour with Briahna Joy Gray on her Callin show. We discussed the pattern of infighting among voices on the Left, the death threat that drove me to leave town for a hiking trip earlier this week, and the disappointing tendency of many so-called “progressive” organizations to support their stated principles only when politically convenient.
My discussion with Briahna touched on several opportunities for the movement going forward. We discussed the need to democratize labor unions from within, and explored alternative models of community organizing. We also shared a laugh about the bizarre fixation of so many critics with my hair, of all things.
Briahna also shared her views of our race, and the opportunity that it offered the national movement. Her feedback on my voice was so remarkably generous that she brought me to tears—not once, but twice. She noted during our discussion that:
“You’re so smart, you’re so informed, you have such a wide basis of knowledge to draw from. To me, you were like the ‘super fighter.’ You were our best….You’re someone who I’d send into battle very confidently….You were like an accountability bomb…”
The need to force accountability on the bipartisan corruption in Washington is exactly what drove me to run up the steepest hill in politics. Ironically, our historic success in climbing that hill is also what inspired racist smears by local Democrats loyal to Pelosi's party machine, and unethical journalists who continue to silence whistleblowers and suppress evidence to support their self-serving lies.
Can you contribute today to help us continue holding a corrupt system accountable? We’re committed to challenging corruption wherever we find it, and to seeing every vote counted. We invite you to stand with us!
I’m grateful for the chance to share analysis and insights, and also for your support. Ultimately, we—not only those of us here now, but future generations who aren't yet here to defend themselves—are all in this together.
Your voice,
Shahid
PS -- If you learned anything from either of these interviews, please share them with friends who share our concerns! Given the profound and continuing hostility of weaponized journalists promoting disinformation in the service of Pelosi's corruption, your help informing voters about the issues can make a big difference.
