John,
Yet another week has gone by and Republican candidates and GOP voters have shown us what a stranglehold Donald Trump has maintained on his party. In race after race, Republicans are tripping over themselves to embrace Trump and tout his endorsement as the single most important measuring stick for their campaign’s legitimacy.
By working to impress a twice-impeached president, they have: Repeated the Big Lie. Spread election conspiracies. And justified or downplayed the attacks on our democracy.
Honestly, it’s all pretty sad and pathetic. And dangerous, to say the least.
Trump isn’t even on the ballot this year, but this election is symbolically a referendum on how much sway he still has over the party he’s molded into his own cult of personality, less than two years after he used election conspiracies to incite the most dangerous assault against our democracy in modern history.
That means this election is also our moment to save our democracy from Trump and all of his extremist cronies by rebuking his lies, his corruption, and his violent rhetoric. If we don’t, Republicans could take back Congress, Trump will run in 2024, and he could seize a second term in power — even if he loses the popular vote and Electoral College.
147 Republicans in Congress voted to overturn the 2020 election, and their dangerous ideas have only become more mainstream from Congress to state legislatures.
We can't let them retake the House. Keeping Kevin McCarthy out of the Speaker's office is one way we can protect the heart of our democracy.
But, John, the thing is, Republicans are raising record-breaking amounts of money from their right-wing benefactors and dark money Super PACs.
But we can and will overcome their efforts with a huge grassroots-powered movement.
I need your support to defeat MAGA extremists running to flip our House majority and roll back our progress. Can you pitch in $10 today to help?
