The January 6th Committee has now heard from Trump’s campaign director who confirmed that Trump’s false claims of victory were entirely detached from reality.

We knew during the attack on the Capitol that Donald Trump was responsible for the violence. That’s why David drafted the articles of impeachment against Trump shortly afterward.

But it’s not just the attack on the Capitol that the Committee is investigating – it’s what Trump did during the two months leading up to the attack that is most concerning. According to his own campaign staff, Donald Trump knew on Election Night that he was going to lose.

As the dozens of court cases he filed were dismissed as frivolous, that should have been the end of it. He should have gracefully exited office as any of his predecessors would have done. Yet he fleeced his own supporters, taking hundreds of millions of dollars from them while falsely claiming that he’d been wronged. Then, he knowingly and willfully drove them toward violence.

Our American experiment really is on a knife’s edge, and Republicans have shown that they do not care if we continue under a President as we have now, or a dictator, as Trump tried to become.
