Every day, the activists that we support teach us the meaning of courage. 22 years ago, Urgent Action Fund for Women's Human Rights was founded to provide support and advocacy for women's human rights defenders because too often they face serious backlash not only from state actors but, also from within their own communities for transgressing cultural norms.

Faika Deniz Pasha is the type of courageous activist and defender we are funneling resources to each day because women, girls, LGBTQI, and non-binary people ARE dismantling oppressive systems and changing the world.

Urgent Action Fund supported Faika and her colleagues in collecting over 140 testimonies from Yazidi and Kurdish women that survived ISIS enslavement and torture. They are now working with other women's coalitions to formally prosecute ISIS at the International Criminal Court.
|
|
|
Faika, along with a cooperative of lawyers and psychologists from Kurdistan, Turkey, and Cyprus are documenting the experiences of Yazidi and Kurdish women escaping ISIS enslavement.
