** Hello there,
------------------------------------------------------------

#GivingTuesday is here!

We are on our way to raising $10,000 in the next 24 hours.
While 2019 was a bleak year for reproductive rights in many American states, LEAF has been working tirelessly to advocate for continuing – and improved – access to reproductive justice both before Canadian courts and the legislatures.

We know that access to the full range of reproductive health services is profoundly important for women’s equality. When women have full access to reproductive health services, on their own terms, they can be full participants in the social, economic and political activities of their communities. The inability to access reproductive health services has a particularly devastating impact on new immigrants, youth, Indigenous women, women in remote or rural communities, and those with limited means.

That’s why this year, LEAF intervened at the Ontario Court of Appeal ([link removed]) and written submissions to a committee of the Alberta legislature ([link removed]) raising concerns about a private member’s bill. We got involved to guard against the erosion of women’s access to reproductive justice and, by extension, women’s equality rights.

But we still have a long battle ahead to tackle both the remaining - and emerging – barriers to reproductive justice.

The loss of New Brunswick’s only freestanding abortion clinic ([link removed]) is just one example of emerging barriers to access. Political attempts to privilege the conscience rights of health care professionals over women’s rights to the full range of health care services is another. With your help, LEAF can continue its work holding governments to account to ensure the continuing access to reproductive health services and equality rights.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help protect women’s access to important health care services - especially reproductive health care services!
