Dear Friend,

June has been an exceptionally busy month for the coalition! There are twenty organizations ([link removed]) that make up the coalition and each is a unique and integral part of the larger American secular community. The Secular Coalition for America is proud to advocate on their behalf here in our nation's capital. We would like to share what they are up to!
The 81st annual American Humanist Association Conference is fast approaching! You can still register to be a part of the conference, being held June 24-26, here ([link removed]) . Just ahead of the conference, with co-sponsor American Atheists, they will host Virtual Lobby Day on June 22nd in support of the John Lewis Every Child Deserves a Family Act (S.1848 ([link removed]) /H.R. 3488). Unfamiliar? Here's the summary: "This bill prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or religion in the provision of child welfare programs and services by entities receiving federal funding." We support this act, and ask that if you that you go to Tell Congress to Pass the John Lewis Every Child Deserves a Family Act at the Humanist Action Headquarters ([link removed]) . .

Last year's Women of Color Beyond Belief conference sessions are now available on the Black Nonbelievers YouTube channel ([link removed]) ! If you were unable to attend, here is your chance to catch up and get excited for WoCBB 2022 ([link removed]) — happening September 30 - October 2 in Chicago. There is a virtual attendance option for anyone who is unable to travel; be sure to take a look!

The Center for Inquiry has been fighting pseudoscience for years, and with major efforts piling up recently (litigating cases against CVS and Walmart, suing the US government over access to the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States, and challenging Boiron for fraud), they have launched the Office of Consumer Protection from Pseudoscience ([link removed]) . With dubious claims being made every day by different companies promoting health supplements, we are thankful for CFI's ([link removed]) Legal Director Nick Little and Staff Counsel Aaron Green for their dedication to American consumers.

June is Pride month, so we were excited to hear about the development of the LGBTQ+ Affinity Space by the board at Cultural and Secular Jewish Organization. The group is meant for queer, secular Jews to come together and create a community within the broader CSJO ([link removed]) .

The first meeting of the Affinity Space will be held virtually on June 22nd. We wish them a pleasant, productive time!
Secular wins have been stacking up for the Freedom From Religion Foundation! In May, they saw two victories in West Virginia over Bible classes in public school and opening city meetings with prayer. You can read more about those cases in the June-July 2022 issue of Freethought Today ([link removed]) . Packed full of important information and uplifting stories (and even a crossword for those of us that like a challenge), take some time to familiarize yourself with the incredible work they do.

Our member organizations are critical partners in the Secular Coalition for America ([link removed]) 's ([link removed]) (SCA) mission to advocate for the equal rights of nonreligious Americans and defend the separation of religion and government. SCA is grateful to have the support of our member organizations, including the American Atheists, American Humanist Association, Black Nonbelievers, Center for Inquiry, Cultural and Secular Jewish Organization, and Freedom From Religion Foundation, which are out there every day building community and proving that secular values are American values.

To support our work fighting for the equal rights of nonreligious Americans, please click the “I want to help secular advocacy! ([link removed]) ” button to donate to the (C4) division of SCA which is responsible for lobbying congress, or the “I want to help secular education ([link removed]) ! ([link removed]) ” button for a tax-deductible donation to the (C3) division of SCA which works to educate Americans about our movement and values. Every dollar goes to furthering our shared secular agenda.
