URGENT LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act breezed through the House of Representatives, but faces an uncertain future in the Senate. If we want to halt the extinction and biodiversity crisis, this bill is critical. We know we can win this fight—but only if we get your support.
Dear Supporter—
I'm sending you this update because we have a huge opportunity: The Recovering America's Wildlife Act–which would provide nearly $1.4 billion for wildlife and habitat conservation and recovery efforts–has just passed the House. We're pulling out all the stops to get this through the Senate, but it's going to be tough.
Here's a reminder of what's at stake: Last year alone, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared 23 species extinct, including the ivory-billed woodpecker, flat pigtoe mussel, and Bachman's warbler. And scientists have predict that as many as 1 million species are headed for extinction1 —many within the next few decades.
This is only one component in the fight to preserve threatened and endangered species. We're also protecting public lands, fighting to stop climate change, and keeping toxic pollutants out of our air and water. We need help with it all–so we're asking you.

STOP THREATENED SPECIES FROM DISAPPEARING >>
The Recovering America's Wildlife Act would provide nearly $1.4 billion2 in funds to help state and tribal leaders conserve and restore at-risk fish and wildlife species. Importantly, this once-in-a-generation level of funding would give states, territories, and Tribal nations increased ability to protect and recover endangered, threatened, and imperiled wildlife in conjunction with new funding streams for federal wildlife management programs.
Importantly, this funding would recur annually–so the agencies and groups who benefit can make long-term plans without worrying the funds will suddenly dry up. Because protecting all of these species can't be accomplished in a week, a month, or even a year–it requires constant vigilance.
But while the bill is powerful as it is, anti-environment forces in the Senate are threatening to bog it down with amendments that would completely derail its mission.
Supporter, we can't let lawmakers tack on amendments that would make it easier to de-list endangered species and gut wildlife protections. This is a fight we can win–but we urgently need your support.

Can we count on you to help us engage our environmental champions in Congress and mobilize our grassroots to secure a clean bill? Please, rush your gift to the Sierra Club now to support our ongoing efforts to build a better future for all.
We're running out of time to slow the catastrophic effects on wildlife and human health. That means every action is important–and your support could make all the difference.
Gratefully,
Bradley Williams

P.S. Experts predict that based on the climate crisis' current trajectory, one-third to one-half of all species will face extinction by the end of this century. Simply put, there's no time to waste.
