Hi John,
It’s hard to believe it's been a whole year since you voted me in as NYC Comptroller, but it has!
We’re busy putting the tools of the office to work for New Yorkers – but we can’t win the just recovery NYC needs alone. We need progressive elected officials across the city and state to stand up for what’s right and fight for the affordable housing, worker rights, and climate action we need for a resilient future.
So when you go to the polls – either during early voting from 9am-5pm today or over the next week, or by mailing in your absentee ballot, or heading in on election day June 28 – I hope you will join me in voting for Jumaane Williams for Governor and Ana Maria Archila for Lieutenant Governor.
Both Jumaane Williams and Ana Maria Archila are transformative leaders, grounded in their communities and dedicated to building a state that values and uplifts all New Yorkers. Jumaane you know well, from his work as Public Advocate and in the City Council to fight discriminatory policing, address gun violence, and confront injustice.
Ana Maria may not be as familiar to some of you, but she has been a key organizing partner to me for many years. From her time as founder of Make the Road New York, to her work at the Center for Popular Democracy fighting for health care reform and for accountability for Brett Kavanaugh, she has shown again and again an ability to bring people together and build real power for change. If you haven’t gotten a chance to meet her yet, watch her ad here.
As a reminder, due to redistricting mishegas, on June 28 we will be voting for Governor, Assembly Members, District Leaders, and Judicial Delegates and Alternates, but the primaries for Congress and the State Senate will be taking place in August.
In addition to Jumaane and Ana Maria, I am supporting several progressive incumbent and insurgent Assembly, District Leader and Judicial Delegate candidates across the city. If you live in their district (you can look up yours here!) please vote for:
- Juan Ardila for AD 37
- Samy Nemir for AD 54
- Phara Souffrant Forrest for AD 57
- Monique Chandler-Waterman for AD 58
- Brooklyn Can’t Wait’s District Leader Slate
- Progressive Judicial and Alternates Slate in 44th AD
Early voting starts today and will be every day through Sunday June 26. Don’t know your poll site? You can find your early voting poll site here, and check out early voting hours here.
Voting is a key part of participating in and strengthening our democracy – and we could use a lot more of that right now. So spread the word, forward this email, and go vote!
