John,
When President Biden announced that he was ending the racist, anti-immigration policy known as Title 42, which was implemented under the Trump administration, CHN and our national allies jumped to action to show Biden that we have his back.
Unfortunately, a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators, including conservative Democrats Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, are backing a bill that would delay the end of Title 42’s use to illegally block asylum seekers and refugees from entering the U.S. at our southern border.
Despite a very disappointing court ruling last month preventing the Biden Administration from ending the use of Title 42 now, it is very possible some in the Senate will try to force a vote that would indefinitely end asylum.
Stop senators from being complicit in a political push for a walled-off America. Write to your U.S. senators right now and demand they reject any attempt to extend Title 42.
DEMAND ACTION
Already, more than 1.7 million immigrants have been blocked or expelled from the U.S., using Title 42. These are refugees and asylum seekers fleeing war, genocide, political repression, and religious persecution.
We’re fighting back with our coalition partners, demanding Congress end the cruel use of Title 42. But, they’ll only act if we ramp up the pressure and demand action.
Take action now. Demand your senators reject any attempt to extend the use of the racist, xenophobic Title 42.
Through the use of Title 42, Black and brown refugees are illegally being expelled to Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras and Mexico under the guise of protecting public health―even as senior scientists at the Centers for Disease Control as well as leading epidemiologists and medical experts object to its use.
This policy has never been about public health. It’s a cruel practice that violates domestic law and international treaty obligations.
Thank you for fighting for the rights and humane treatment of all people seeking peace and safety at our borders and throughout the world.
