Dear Friend,
The last year has seen a brazen
revitalization of the infamous imperial Monroe Doctrine in Latin
America. The Trump administration attempted a regime change operation
in Venezuela and backed a military coup in Bolivia. Immediately, the
ANSWER Coalition sprung into action and organized rapid response
demonstrations and educational events in literally dozens of cities
across the country.
The U.S. empire doesn’t rest for a
single day in its efforts to dominate the whole world, so neither can
we! ANSWER is a one-of-a-kind organization that plays an indispensable
role to mobilize people, in every part of the United States and on an
emergency basis, to challenge the Empire’s aggressions as they’re
happening. That’s why
this "Giving Tuesday" we ask for your support in continuing to build
this movement!
In the last month ANSWER chapters in every
region of the country have organized rallies and protests to demand an
end to the recent coup attempt in Bolivia.
ANSWER Los Angeles
Earlier this year, ANSWER chapters
mobilized across the country to demand “U.S. Hands Off Venezuela” as
soon as the news of the coup attempt broke. Then on March 16, 2019 in
what became the biggest expression of solidarity to date in the United
States with the Venezuelan people, the ANSWER Coalition and our allies
mobilized thousands in a March on the White House to say no to the
coup, war and sanctions on Venezuela! The day was adopted by
anti-imperialist and peace organizations worldwide to denounce the
coup attempt.
March 16, 2019 National March on the White House
Following the National March on
Washington, ANSWER chapters organized the Eyewitness Venezuela Speaking Tour
featuring Gloria La Riva.
La Riva spoke in over 40 cities on the unfolding situation in
Venezuela, with a progressive perspective on the crucial issues facing
the Venezuelan people: the U.S. economic sanctions, the U.S. media
blockade, and the people's organizing efforts to overcome the
aggression.
ANSWER organizers joined the
Embassy Protection Collective in the defense of the Venezuelan embassy
in Washington D.C. Starting in mid-April 2019, activists took up
residence inside the Venezuelan Embassy to protect it from takeover by
opposition forces as part of the U.S. orchestrated coup.
Embassy Protection Collective,
Washington D.C. All this work, and the
expanding reach of ANSWER into cities and towns across the country, is
possible because of supporters like you! If you’ve marched with us
before, or just follow this organizing work online, you can see that
ANSWER’s effort is 100 percent people-powered. There are no
multi-million dollar foundations that keep this organizing going year
after year. Your
contribution helps build an anti-war organization that has time and
again proven itself to be among the most reliable and consistent in
the country.
ANSWER is planning more
anti-imperialist protests and educational campaigns in the new year
focused on Latin America solidarity and against all of the criminal
sanctions policies of the U.S. government.
We know that regardless of who is
elected in 2020 and the campaign promises made during the election
period, it is vital we continue to build a powerful, sustained,
grassroots people’s movement in the United States. If you agree, make
as generous a donation as possible to enable us to expand our work!
Your
support for this movement has never been more
important.
