Nonfarm wage and salary jobs were up 42,900 (seasonally adjusted) in May, while the gains in April were revised to 44,600 from the previously reported 41,400.
Nonfarm jobs nationally were up 390,000.
With the May numbers, California regained 93% of the nonfarm jobs lost to the state shutdowns. The seasonally adjusted numbers showed gains in all but 3 industries, with the increases led by Information (8,800), Construction (7,100), and a tie between Accommodation & Food Services (6,600) Health Care & Social Services (6,600). Losses were in Retail Trade (-8,900), Finance & Insurance (-500), and Mining & Logging (-300).
