Dear Neighbors,

One of our priorities this session was to give our frontline heroes the bonus pay they deserve. Eligible Frontline Workers can now apply for those bonus payments. Minnesotans who worked in health care, as first responders, food service, retail, and more ? are eligible for these bonuses. To view eligibility criteria and apply, please visit frontlinepay.mn.gov/submit [ [link removed] ]. Applications must be sent in by Friday, July 22. I encourage everyone eligible to apply.

Turning Priorities into Law

This week, Governor Walz held two ceremonial bill signings to highlight two pieces of legislation I authored this session. One provides new, nation-leading student privacy protections - disallowing the surveillance of students or the commercial use of their data. The second creates a new guardianship procedure in juvenile court for immigrant youth aged 18 to 21 in order to align Minnesota with legal eligibility for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, a federal protection for neglected, abandoned, or abused immigrant youth.?

These pieces of legislation will ensure our young and vulnerable people are protected under the law. It is an honor to advance these bills.

Congratulations to all of the graduating students. Obtaining a diploma requires hours of classroom study and a commitment on your part to accomplish this goal. You should be commended for a job well done.

As you leave high school behind and prepare to face new challenges, the skills you acquired will become more and more important to you. I hope you will use these skills to meet these challenges and contribute to the betterment of our society.
