Dear Texan,

I wanted to take a moment to share an update on what’s happening in Texas’ 31st district and the United States House.

On the docket:

·       PTSD Awareness and Funding

·       Welcoming TX-31 Constituents to Washington

·       Registration now open for Congressional App Challenge

The Brief:

·       Texans are experiencing the highest gas prices in history, with a $4.68 per gallon statewide average.

·       239,416 migrants attempted to cross the U.S. southern border in the month of May, the highest amount in DHS history.

·       U.S. consumer sentiment plunged in early June to the lowest on record as soaring inflation continued to batter household finances.

Securing Funding for PTSD Treatment

June is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness month. One in 13 Americans will experience PTSD at some point in their life and among veterans, that number is 11 out of 20. As a member of the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Veterans Affairs, I requested additional funding for new PTSD treatments and research and $498 million for suicide prevention programs. I'm pleased to report this funding has been included in the legislation we are currently debating. America made a commitment to our veterans, and as your representative, I will work every day to fulfill that commitment.

Welcoming TX-31 Constituents to Washington

My team and I recently welcomed several groups of TX-31 constituents to the People's House after a long prohibition on tours by Speaker Pelosi. I love meeting constituents when they visit and look forward to welcoming many more over the summer.
