Friend,
Fighting for Iowa agriculture is a top priority for me in Congress. Farmers need bipartisan investments and support, not government overreach and bureaucratic regulatory roadblocks. I will always work across the aisle for our producers. This week major, hard-fought victories for Iowa agriculture passed the House, including my bipartisan PRECISE Act and legislation I helped introduce, the Year-Round Fuel Choice Act.
I’ve heard from farmers from across the district about the benefits of precision agriculture technology. These tools increase crop yields while simultaneously lowering input costs, decreasing nutrient runoff, and conserving our environment—but these are also extremely expensive to start using, especially for our family farms. This bill would expand access to precision agriculture technology through existing USDA programs that farmers already know and trust. We should harness the knowledge and experience within the agriculture community to provide innovative solutions to the climate challenge and empower farmers with the tools they trust to continue to be conscious stewards of our land, not tell them how to do their job – and that is exactly what the PRECISE Act will do.
One of my top priorities in Washington has been promoting Iowa biofuels and allowing for the sale of year-round E-15. With House passage of the Year-Round Fuel Choice Act, we are one step closer to making that a reality. Increasing biofuel blends in transportation fuel will bring down the cost at the pump and help replenish our fuel supply. With gas prices at a record high and our Strategic Petroleum Reserve at a 35-year low, Iowa biofuels should be front and center in our all-of-the-above energy strategy.
House passage of these bills is critical victory for the Iowa agriculture community and our rural economy. It's my honor to fight for our farmers in Congress, and I'll continue working in a bipartisan way to deliver wins for Iowa agriculture.
Best,
