HUGE news, friends!
In a historic win for our veterans, the Senate passed the Honoring Our PACT Act of 2022 — bipartisan legislation to support veterans exposed to toxic substances and burn pits during military service.
It’s the most significant expansion of veteran health care in decades.
I was proud to vote in favor of this bill. For far too long, toxic exposure in military services has been left unaddressed. Whether they served during Vietnam, the Gulf War, or post-9/11, this bill will help millions of American service members who have been exposed to toxic smoke, burn pits, and Agent Orange and have been unable to get the care they desperately needed.
Many veterans have waited for years to get care, only for political games to stall legislation. That is unacceptable for our veterans who put their lives on the line to protect American values.
So I’m celebrating the passage of this important piece of legislation. Service members and their families risked everything for our freedom, and we must keep our promises to them when they return home.
But there is more to be done — protecting health care, supporting quality and safe housing needs, and creating programs to help veterans secure meaningful work are all critical to uplifting veterans after their service to our nation.
Can you pitch in $10 to help us keep making progress in the Senate and keep fighting to uphold the sacred commitments we have made to veterans as they transition to civilian life and beyond?
