About the job
As the Deputy Assistant Director for the Facility Professional Services (FPS) division, you will provide leadership and management of the programs that provide professional level facility planning and management of state public works construction projects, with the goal to provide safe, efficient, cost effective, and well managed facilities and Capital Projects. You will help to facilitate clear business objectives, empower and equip team members to pursue and achieve those objectives, and keep it all tightly aligned with state and agency goals.

* "*An outstanding leader: *"With direct responsibility for six teams of project managers responsible for the project management and delivery of capital and energy savings project, you must be able to lead, coach, and mentor the professional development of future leaders in the agency.
* "*A change agent: *"You will implement practices and working conditions that achieve inclusion in the workforce and in the way we serve the public and lead the ongoing development of an organizational culture that promotes the practice of respect for people, openness, trust, safety, transparency, collaborative problem solving, managing with data, and incremental continuous improvement.
* "*An expert in Public Works contracting: *"You have seasoned experience in the management of all phases of capital construction and a working understanding of the principles and practices of public works contract administration including planning, budgeting, design, and construction of a wide variety of facilities.
* "*Capable of making hard decisions:*" You must be capable of making critical decisions and recommendations affecting the design, construction, and schedule of a major portion of the state's capital construction program and the long-range strategic goals of the division.
* *"An excellent communicator: "*You must be able to analyze and understand complex technical issues, and communicate the key concepts, legal obligations and alternatives to non-technical staff and decision makers. You must be able to write policies and procedures for contract administration. Further, negotiation and communication skills are required in interfacing with senior level management, building officials, regulatory agencies, legislative staff, and the news media.
