Social Security 2020 - Are You Ready?

Our Social Security Advisory staff will be hosting its annual review of
Social Security basics, with emphasis on 2020 changes that everyone
interested in the program needs to know. Here are the details:

**Date** - Tuesday, December 10, 2019

**Location** - Lady Lake Library, Room 207

**Time** - Session starts at 10:00 am, with time at the end for
individual consultations

**For more info** - visit www.AmacFoundation.org/Events/

Our trained and accredited staff will not only review Social Security's
rules and regulations and the changes going into effect 1/1/2020, but
will stand ready to spend time with individuals having questions on how
these rules and regulations apply to their personal situations.

We hope to see you all there on December 10. Keep an eye on our
website's "Events" page for
breaking news on details about this and other upcoming programs..

"Social Security, a critically important, great program which does serve
as the cornerstone of support for senior citizens, now faces challenges
that threaten its long-term stability and well-being. The facts are
there. The facts are crystal clear."

**Bill Frist, former U.S. Senator (Tennessee)**

New Workshops on the Drawing Boards

As we mention in our seminars and workshops, we are constantly on the
lookout for ideas and suggestions to add to our monthly presentation
schedule. Based on some of the feedback we've received, we have begun to
explore two exciting useful topics around which we'll be building
workshops to present in early 2020. *

**Keeping Up with the Grandkids** - Social Media is an area that
perplexes many of us, and yet it seems so commonplace to our grandkids!
I feel fortunate that I have three grandkids, ages 11, 9, and 8, that I
can turn to for guidance. The only problem is their lack of patience at
times...they'll usually allow me only about five minutes before the eye
roll followed by the "Give me that" command.

* So, our thought on this topic is to provide a senior-oriented
presentation on today's most popular Social Media tools (FaceBook,
Instagram, Twitter, etc.), heavy with hands-on training. Our first step
will be to recruit a trainer to help us out...most kids are in school
during the week, so it will need to be an adult. If anyone has any
suggestions, please drop us a note at the Foundation.

*

**You Got a New Smart Phone...Now What?** - Many (maybe most) of us have
smart phones, but honestly how much of their functionality do we make
use of? What do all the buttons do? What's an "App" and exactly what do
they do? And so on. In this session, we plan to focus on understanding
these powerful devices and how we can get the most benefit out of using
them correctly. We'll also focus on the Smart Phone and its role in
staying connected to family and friends, and we'll address the issue of
phone scams and how to set protective mechanisms in place to keep you
safe.

We're just in the planning stages on these two topics, so we'd welcome
any thoughts or suggestions you have for content. Call us at the
Foundation office (888-750-2622) or email us at [email protected]
to share your thoughts!

"Short Videos" on Social Security Coming to AMAC's Media Airwaves

On December 11, our Social Security Advisors will begin recording a
series of "short videos" designed to educate the public in basic
concepts associated with America's Social Security program. Based on our
Advisory program's experience accumulated in its four years of
operation, we've selected dozens of topics that will be explained in a
video of one to three minutes in length. For example, we'll explain the
basic way benefits are actually calculated, and we'll show viewers how
they can determine their "full retirement age." The videos are being
produced in-house in AMAC's Leesburg studio, and will be inserted into
AMAC's regular news schedule at prescribed intervals starting early next
year!

Watch for announcements in the coming weeks on this exciting project,
and be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to see our Advisors in
action on the "big screen!"
