2. New Week, New Ads!
Florida state Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith released a new ad this week in his bid for reelection. [[link removed]] He opened up about being a survivor of hate-based violence and how he channeled this experience to motivate his fight against injustice. He also called out the horrific influx in anti-LGBTQ legislation in Florida this year, including the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. [[link removed]\] In addition to speaking up against these anti-LGBTQ laws, he has been hard at work fighting for other important issues like tackling climate change [[link removed]] and addressing gun violence. [[link removed]]
Congressman Mondaire Jones also dropped a new campaign ad to introduce himself to voters in his new district. [[link removed]]

In the ad, he gets real about being a child raised by a single mother in Section 8 housing and why his unique set of life experiences makes him the outsider in Congress that New Yorkers need and deserve. 4. Michigan State Senator Delivers Powerful Speech After Pride Resolution Fails ​​​​​

Michigan state Senator Jeremy Moss took the floor recently to call out anti-equality colleagues for their refusal to vote for the state’s Pride Month Resolution. [[link removed]] You can’t make this up: they tried to remove the phrase “LGBTQ community” from the bill! 5. More Drag Queens, Please!
Anti-equality trolls have a new target: drag queens. [[link removed]] When asked about her take on the issue during a civil rights conference this week, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel made these bigots the joke. “Drag queens make everything better,” she said, adding that maybe we need “a drag queen for every school.” [[link removed]] We love to see it!
