Left-wing Hate
Another pro-life organization has been attacked, this time in Minnesota. The office of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, the state National Right to Life affiliate, was vandalized with spray paint and its office windows were smashed.
This is just the latest in at least 60 such attacks against pro-life organizations nationwide since Justice Alito’s draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked from the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, I am not aware of one official from the Biden Administration publicly condemning the attacks and demanding that they stop. All they talk about is the threat of domestic terrorism from white supremacists. Clearly, the most immediate threat right now is coming from “pro-death supremacists.”
In response to this total lack of action, Sen. Tom Cotton is demanding Attorney General Merrick Garland’s resignation.
Crisis pregnancy centers are facilities that serve women in need. If any other facilities serving women were being attacked all over America, there would be national outrage.
We’re told that the progressive movement is pro-woman. Apparently, they are only pro-woman if it involves killing babies. If you think women are givers of life, progressives have no use for you.
Jane’s Revenge is trying to shut down these pro-life centers by any means necessary. It said also that the attacks are intended to make it impossible for pro-life groups to be insured. If the violence and vandalism continue, insurance companies will rate them as “high risk” and their insurance costs will skyrocket.
So, they’re also trying to financially destroy a network of centers that help poor women in crisis who have often been abandoned and don’t want to kill their children. They are attacking the very people who make the choice of life possible.
Back To Bizarro World
According to various reports, the Biden White House is holding emergency meetings to figure out what to do if Justice Alito’s draft opinion holds as the Supreme Court’s final decision in the Dobbs case. One option reportedly under consideration is for President Biden to declare a “national public health emergency.”
That would be a very strange action. It would be the first public health emergency ever declared by an American government whose purpose is to ensure that 1 in 5 babies continues to be aborted. In other words, it would be a public health emergency to guarantee more death.
Attacking America
As the country struggles with record gas prices, it's worth reviewing the left’s rhetoric and actions toward America’s energy industry.
Power plants, refineries and other major infrastructure sites have always been prime targets of our enemies. When hackers from Iran, Russia or communist China launch cyberattacks, our energy infrastructure is frequently at the top of their list.
But now the entire government of the United States is attacking our energy industry in the courts and through its vast regulatory powers. The Biden Administration and its left-wing allies are trying to cripple our energy industry, just as aggressively as our enemies.
For example:
-
In September of 2019, Joe Biden said, “I want you to look at my eyes. I guarantee you . . . We're going to end fossil fuel.”
-
In March of 2020, Joe Biden declared: “Number one, no more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry, no more drilling on federal lands, no more drilling, including offshore, no ability for the oil industry to continue to drill. Period, it ends.”
-
In October of 2020, in response to a question from President Trump about ending the oil industry, Biden vowed, “I would transition from the oil industry, yes.”
Biden said it repeatedly, and he meant it.
That’s why the first thing he did after he walked into the Oval Office was to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline. He canceled leases on federal land for additional energy exploration, and his administration is in federal court right now trying to stop another planned lease sale.
He’s tried to appoint radicals who have openly bragged about wanting to bankrupt energy companies to key positions. (Here and here.)
Last October, House liberals summoned the CEOs of the major energy companies to Capitol Hill for a show trial. They berated them for not doing enough to end “climate change,” and demanded pledges that they transition to “clean energy,” which means stop drilling for oil.
This political harassment of American energy companies is bad enough. But their left-wing allies, backed by major Wall Street financial interests like Blackrock, are also trying to put radical environmentalists on their corporate boards. And they’re pressuring banks to stop lending to energy companies for exploration projects.
But now, after a year and a half of trying to strangle American energy companies to death, Biden and his political allies are again attacking our oil companies, claiming they’re not drilling enough!
People First
This report is widely read on Capitol Hill. I know many members of Congress and their staff read it. So, here’s a tip for our friends on the Hill.
When you’re talking to the American people, don’t talk like you’re defending ExxonMobil or some other giant corporation on the stock exchange. Put the American people first.
A Hopeful Sign
Four years ago, the Iowa Supreme Court declared that abortion was enshrined as a fundamental right in the Iowa state constitution. Since then, the majority on the court has changed. Today, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that its state constitution does not contain a so-called “right” to abortion.
While the Iowa ruling won’t affect the U.S. Supreme Court, I hope this a forerunner of what we can expect in the days ahead from a majority of the justices in Washington, D.C.
