Last week, the House Democrats led the charge to pass bipartisan gun safety reforms – the most comprehensive and decisive reforms passed in the last decade. This includes Lucy’s ‘Red Flag’ Bill that ensures law enforcement can act proactively to prevent firearms from being purchased by those with violent intentions.

Now, this legislation is in the hands of the Senate, where Mitch McConnell and Republicans have traditionally held up any progress on this issue. The Senate could easily pass these popular, bipartisan reforms – but conservative hard-liners are trying to tank a deal Democrats and members of the Republican minority have come to a consensus on.

A vast majority of Americans are demanding swift action from the Senate on gun violence to ensure that a tragic mass shooting like we saw last month in Uvalde never happens again. We simply must value the lives of our elementary school students over the profits of the gun lobby.
