I have some very bad news. Iowa’s Supreme Court just ruled abortion rights are not protected under the state’s Constitution.

This ruling will open the floodgates for Iowa Republicans to pass their extreme anti-choice laws. Governor Kim Reynolds and Iowa Republicans have already been hard at work trying to get a measure on the ballot to amend the Constitution and strip Iowans of their rights to reproductive healthcare. 

Taking away rights and making life hard for Iowans seems to be a trend in this state since the Republicans have taken over the State House, State Senate and the Governorship. 

Like most Iowans, I believe in reproductive freedom. We must keep the government out of personal, private healthcare decisions that should be made between women and their doctors. 

It’s long past time that Republican politicians stop attacking women’s rights, and start respecting and trusting them to make healthcare decisions for themselves.

If I’m elected to the Iowa House, you can be sure I will fight the Iowa GOP’s attacks on reproductive freedom every step of the way.
