John — When I think about some of my favorite memories on the campaign trail, there are so many that stand out.

I think back to Election Day in 2018 when this incredible team defeated a four-term Republican incumbent and helped me make history by becoming the youngest Black woman ever elected to Congress. And in 2020 when we overcame an avalanche of right-wing attacks to win again and continue our work fighting for progress in Congress.

Those moments were truly incredible. I’m honored to represent and fight for our community in Congress every single day, and truthfully, I also love to win. (Really — growing up, I used to peek through the back of lunchable boxes at the grocery store to see if I could find an “instant win” behind the juice box.)

But in all seriousness, my favorite part of the job is getting to meet with folks from across our district, hear their stories, and talk about how we can fight for change together. And John, this past week was one for the books.

I spent Saturday at the Pride Parade in Aurora and had the opportunity to celebrate and uplift our LGBTQ+ community alongside family, friends, and neighbors.

Then, we opened the doors of our brand new campaign office in Aurora. I was truly honored to get to meet and talk with so many of you — and I can’t thank you enough for coming out to support Team Underwood.

And when I got back to Washington, I got right to work on the critical issues I spoke with folks back home about — from lowering costs for working families and protecting the right to choose to fighting for equality and justice for all.

As I’m sure you know, we still have a lot of work ahead of us to make life better for Illinois’ working families — and Republicans are gearing up to spend big to flip this seat and stop our progress. But I know this team can accomplish anything when we work together.

So today, I’m humbly asking you to pitch in to my campaign for Congress to keep this work going. Anything you can spare would mean the world to me.
