Dear John,
As you probably heard, this past Wednesday marked Tax Freedom Day – the day in the year when Canadians start working for themselves, not government.
Tax Freedom Day is a yearly initiative of the Fraser Institute.
I’m happy to report that, similar to years previous, this year’s Tax Freedom Day garnered plenty of attention around the country.
It was featured prominently across the entire Sun Media daily newspaper chain; highlighted on radio shows all across Canada; and reached tens of thousands of people via social media!
Tax Freedom Day is so important, because it helps put the total tax burden in perspective. It helps Canadians understand just how much of their money they pay in taxes every year!
Canadians need to decide for themselves whether they are getting their money’s worth when it comes to how governments are spending their tax dollars. And the Fraser Institute gives them the tools to help them decide.
If you’re concerned about the tax burden faced by Canadian families and want to help give them the tools to better understand it, please consider making a donation today.
As you might expect, we don’t accept any government funding for Tax Freedom Day – we rely entirely on supporters like you!
Thank you for your continued support,
Niels Veldhuis
President
The Fraser Institute
PS: Speaking of Canadians’ high tax burden, did you know that donations to the Fraser Institute entitle you to generous tax credits at tax time? Donate today to get yours!
