Friend, did you know that we can utilize the ocean in the fight against climate change?

Ocean-based climate solutions can provide up to 20% of the emissions reductions we need to reach global climate goals!

So I was thrilled to see President Biden commit to developing the country’s first Ocean Climate Action Plan last week on World Ocean Day.

EnviroVoters has joined nearly 100 leading advocacy organizations to recommend how President Biden can best implement a comprehensive, ambitious plan. Will you sign our petition calling on the Biden Administration to enact a thorough, effective Ocean Climate Action Plan that will maximize emissions reductions?

The recommendations from these 90-plus organizations and businesses nationwide are intended to inform the development of the Biden Administration’s plan. Some of the key categories of recommendations include:

• Expanding responsibly-sited offshore wind
• Promoting green shipping and ports
• Ending illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing and advancing climate-ready fisheries
• Enhancing coastal resilience and advancing marine protected areas
• Reducing plastic pollution and emissions

Incorporating recommendations like these into the White House’s plan will reduce emissions and increase resilience while also providing jobs, protecting vulnerable communities, and safeguarding our natural resources.

With the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference coming up in a few weeks, the U.S. has a golden opportunity to demonstrate strong global leadership on ocean climate action by getting started on these recommendations.
