The American people need relief from inflation immediately, yet the Biden administration continues to sit on its hands and do nothing. What kind of message do you believe this sends to families and hardworking taxpayers in communities across the country? I’ll go ahead and say it: it sends a message that is not only wrong, but also entirely irresponsible. The facts paint a clear and concerning picture of what direction our country is heading.
On Friday of last week, new numbers were released that show how bad inflation has ravaged the country, and some of the indicators were jaw-dropping. Last month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) hit its highest rate in over 40 years. December of 1981 was the last time we saw inflation this high, and it appears that it is not slowing down any time soon. Before I discuss the numbers, let’s talk about how the Biden administration is responding to, and spinning, this catastrophe.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House Press Secretary, claimed last week that the economy is “in a better place than it has been historically”. She then went on to say that the administration feels that “we are in a good position to take on inflation”. Janet Yellen, the Treasury Secretary, said in a Senate hearing last week that she hopes inflation will come down, but she expects it to remain high. She also admitted that her description of inflation being “transitory” was wrong. Both assessments are not reassuring in the slightest – and the administration knows this.
Now, on to the numbers. Americans are paying more for just about everything thanks to President Biden’s inflation catastrophe:
- Fuel oil is UP 106.7%
- Eggs are UP 32.2%
- Used cars and trucks are UP 16.1%
- Milk is UP 15.9%
- Bacon is UP 15.6%
- Baby food is UP 12.9%
Though these are a small handful of examples, and there are many to point to, they underscore the fact that President Biden’s inflation catastrophe is far-reaching. The highly progressive Washington Post released a poll indicating that Americans are expecting inflation to get much worse – with two-thirds of respondents indicating that they expect inflation to grow as we enter the latter part of the year. According to the Post’s poll, “nearly 9 in 10 Americans say they’ve started bargain-hunting for cheaper products, and about three-quarters are cutting back on restaurants and entertainment or putting off planned purchases”.
Remember, the irresponsible spending schemes of President Biden and the In Washington, I’m fighting every day to hold this majority and administration accountable for their abysmal failures. Citizens of the 5th District demand this, and it is a responsibility that I will continue to uphold.
My Latest Op-Ed
Pause and think about the state of our country today – all the catastrophes that Americans are facing have roots in the legislative incompetence that has been championed by Washington Democrats for months on end. From rampant inflation to the southern border being overwhelmed, no matter where you turn, you can easily see that things are spiraling out of control. Common sense dictates that when a problem arises, you work with the utmost urgency to fix it. But in Washington, common sense is seldom found.
In my latest op-ed in the Wilkes Record, I detail the latest spending scheme from Nancy Pelosi that would have cost hardworking taxpayers over $1.2 million per year. Thanks to Republicans, it was not only exposed, but it was also thwarted in its entirety. The American people cannot afford the reckless spending habits of Washington Democrats anymore. Come November, this will change.
The Constitution Is Absolute
Recently, I took to the floor of the House to call attention to the numerous attempts by Washington Democrats to undercut the Constitution and the freedoms of the American people. Remember, the freedoms we are fortunate to possess were not granted to us by the federal government – our freedoms are God-given. Partisan attempts to contort the Constitution to fit a political scheme should never be allowed to stand. This sacred document is absolute, and I will continue to fight every day so that it will never be used as a doormat that one wipes their feet on.

Quote of The Week
“9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
