96 [link removed]  State Convention Weekend is Here!
FLASHBACK: Chairman Kyle Hupfer speaks during the 2018 state convention
in Evansville.
State convention weekend is finally here, so I'll keep
this week's note short!
Safe travels to all of you who are traveling
from across the state to our capital city. This weekend, in setting our
statewide ticket, we take another important step toward victory this
November...a victory that looks more like 1994 and 2010 with every day
that passes!
Enjoy this week’s newsletter and share it with a
friend...and for all you dad's out there, a special "Happy Father's Day"
on Sunday.
To those of you joining us this weekend, we'll see you
soon!
Sincerely,
Chairman Kyle Hupfer
  Governor Holcomb's
Week That WasAddressing Indiana's Future LeadersOn Tuesday Gov. Holcomb
spoke at the 93rd state convention of the Indiana Future Farmers of
America.
"Looking out into the sea of blue and gold at the Indiana
Future Farmers of America State Convention last night, it was an honor
to address the young Hoosier leaders of today and tomorrow." — Gov.
Holcomb
ICYMI FROM LAST WEEK: Proposing Returning $1 Billion to
Hoosier Taxpayers Last Thursday, Gov. Holcomb announced a plan to return
$1 billion of state reserves to Hoosier taxpayers, following higher than
expected revenue performance for the fiscal year.
Each taxpayer would
collect about $225 in addition to $125 Hoosiers are currently receiving
from the state’s automatic taxpayer refund. All told, each eligible
Hoosier would receive about $350; a married couple filing jointly would
receive about $700.
“Hoosiers have real needs right now during this
period of high inflation, from the gas pump to buying groceries, and
everyone should benefit from the state’s success.
“I’ve met with
Speaker Huston and Senator Bray and have asked them to discuss getting a
billion dollars back into Hoosier hands with their colleagues. I’ve
committed to work with them to call a special session before the end of
June to take action to align this second round of returns with our
current ATR.” — Gov. Holcomb
If approved, an additional deposit would
be made to the bank accounts of eligible Hoosiers, just like the current
ATR. For those who will receive paper checks beginning in August, one
check for $350 for individual taxpayers, or $700 for those filing
jointly, would be issued.
ICYMI FROM LAST WEEK: Announcing an
Appointment to the Indiana Supreme Court Last Friday, Gov. Holcomb
announced his selection to replace retiring Indiana Supreme Court
Justice Steven David with Judge Derek Molter.
“Derek Molter is
devoted to the cause of justice and maintaining the integrity of our
justice system. He’s proven during his lengthy legal career and his
tenure on the Indiana Court of Appeals his dedication to the critical
role the judiciary plays in our system of government and the future of
our state.” — Gov. Holcomb
"The basic idea is that we interpret legal
text like the Constitution consistent with the understanding of that
text at the time it was enacted or ratified. The virtue of that
philosophy is that it anchors the court to ensure that it's exercising
its judicial role. Under our separation of powers, that's the only role
judges are here to perform — they're not here to perform the legislative
role." — Judge Derek Molter on "original intent"

 Todd Young, in
First for Hoosier Elected Official, Endorsed by National Border Patrol
Council [link removed]   Last Friday,
Todd Young, in a first for a Hoosier elected official, was endorsed by
the National Border Patrol Council.
Under Joe Biden, every state has
become a border state, and Senator Todd Young is fighting for a secure
US-Mexico border and standing with our brave Border Patrol agents.
From the Todd Young campaign:
"On Friday, I was joined in Indiana by
the National Border Patrol Council who endorsed my campaign on behalf
of our nation’s 18,000+ brave Border Patrol agents & personnel.
"I’m
honored to be the first Hoosier elected official ever endorsed by the
National Border Patrol Council.
"We went on the road making stops in
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and South Bend talking with Hoosiers about
the simple solutions needed from the Biden Administration to once again
secure the border.
"As a Marine who’s served on the border standing
shoulder to shoulder with Border Patrol, I know firsthand the
importance secure borders play in our national security. While
President Biden turns his back on Border Patrol and a secure US-Mexico
border, I will continue standing with them and fighting for a secure
border."

 There's Always a Tweet
When Chuck Schumer tweeted this on Aug.
29, 2018, gas prices were averaging $2.82. Now they're topping $5, but
for some reason, he hasn't tweeted this again. We decided to fix this
tweet for him.
