Remembering Those We Lost in the Lowcountry
Seven years ago, nine worshipers lost their lives due to an attack at Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston. May God bless Mother Emanuel. #CharlestonStrong #Emanuel9

We will never forget: Clementa C. Pinckney, Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lee Lance, DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Tywanza Sanders, Daniel Lee Simmons, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, and Myra Thompson.

Tomorrow we remember and celebrate the firefighters who answered the call for the Charleston Sofa Super Store fire in 2007. Nine courageous men gave their lives in the line of duty.

Those nine firefighters were: Louis Mulkey, Mike Benke, Melven Champaign, William Hutchinson, Rodney “Brad” Baity, James Drayton, Mark Kelsey, Michael French, and Brandon Thompson.

________

Tuesday was Flag Day. Our Nation’s flag is the greatest symbol of freedom and democracy. We should always remember what it stands for!

Tuesday was also the Army’s birthday. Since 1775, the Army has defended our great Nation. We celebrate and remember all of the brave men and women in the Army. My dad served 28 years in the US Army. I am forever grateful for his service, and the service of others.

This week new numbers showed how the crisis at our southern border continues to get worse. There were 239,416 illegal crossings just last month. We must secure the border.

As always, if you need us, call us. Whether you need help with a passport, issues with receiving your tax refund or the Veterans Administration, please reach out to our office if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to be heard on any issue at any time. It’s an immense honor to serve each and every one of you.

Sincerely,
Congresswoman Nancy Mace
