The war in Ukraine has caused one of the fastest large-scale displacements of children since World War II. In the early weeks of the war, a Ukrainian child became a refugee almost every second. The implications of the refugee surge caused by the war in Ukraine and the broader global refugee crisis will affect children both today and for years to come.
Whether it’s the heightened risk of danger or the lost access to essential services, refugee children are up against immense challenges as they seek safety. Throughout their journeys, their opportunities to learn, grow and develop are in jeopardy. |
Child-friendly spaces like Blue Dot refugee support hubs, which provide essential services and resources for women and children, are one of the many ways UNICEF is helping Ukrainians on the move. Teams reach refugees with protection services and care as well as guidance to help children and their families safely navigate their next steps.
As we close our books on our current fiscal year, we’re thinking about how children’s needs are growing as the displacement crisis continues and factors like war and climate change drive more children from their homes. Make your gift to ensure that we’re able to do everything we can to help UNICEF protect refugee children in the year ahead. |
Thank you for making a difference,
