This week, I called on Senator Mike Lee to break from partisan extremes and support the bipartisan gun safety proposal agreed to in the U.S. Senate.

This necessary, common-sense legislation would mark an important step forward in protecting our children and families, while also upholding the 2nd Amendment.

After years of gridlock and division in Washington, Democrats and Republicans are finally breaking with the extremes in their parties to get something done.

The bipartisan gun safety proposal includes resources for states to implement red-flag laws, keeping guns out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves or others, invest in mental health treatment and increased school security, and apply a more thorough review process for gun buyers under the age of 21.

It’s time for Senator Lee to break with special interests and partisan extremes to support this important proposal. It’s time for Mike Lee to do the right thing.
