'The Amazon is a lawless land'

Journalist Dom Phillips and Bruno Araújo Pereira were killed in the Amazon while researching a book looking at the challenges facing Brazil's indigenous people. Index spoke to one of the people who last saw them alive.

Index expresses concern over Julian Assange extradition

It is deeply disappointing that Home Secretary Priti Patel has approved the extradition of the Wikileaks founder to the United States, where he will face charges under the Espionage Act. We call on the international journalistic community to support Assange in the next stage of his battle against extradition as he takes his case to appeal. Read our statement on the case here.

The terrible price of refusing to remain silent

Index's CEO Ruth Smeeth says we must learn from their deaths and that we continue to ensure that important voices cannot be silenced forever.
