Is the world getting weirder or is it just me? Or both? My money is on both. (It might just be me getting weirder but it makes me feel better to think it's also 8 billion others.)
I just went on a 5 day cruise. During a still sorta pandemic. To celebrate my parents' 45th wedding anniversary. It was an amazing time. Except for the two times I got violently ill for hours. One was the food's fault (or if you want to blame me, the absurd amount of it I ate). One was the magic mushrooms fault (or if you want to blame me, the absurd amount of them I ate.) The ship had cut back on a lot of the things that normally make cruises not great but still fun. I mean I know it's hard to find workers these days, but shouldn't the piano bar singer know English? And shouldn't he also know, like, some songs? Googling and pretending you know songs is not the same as knowing them. And it's not great when you are relying on the audience to make the melody clear. It was great spending time with family though. My whole family speaks English and knows songs, so the piano bar guy better watch his back.
Back home I've been hanging a lot with my lifelong best friend Jason, and we just played one-on-one basketball. I haven't played any ball in like 7 years, and he and I haven't played one-on-one in at least 10. I was pretty good considering. If you don't count that I missed almost all of my shots. And my knees weren't happy I came out of retirement. I went in the pool after and swimming hurt my knees. As Jason pointed out, I'm not even sure that's possible.
And then I turn on the news and we have a hearing on the Jan 6 insurrection that FOX News literally refused to cover and instead went commercial free for two hours! To make sure no one had a chance to change channels and see the truth. The truth that our democracy is on the brink of collapse, and that they are largely responsible for it. The craziness has gotten so intense that I feel the need to speak my mind on all things political again, and am honored to let you know I've started a brand new video series for The Young Turks. Three days a week for a month now I've been doing videos for their Facebook and Youtube brand REBEL HQ. So you can see me take down these idiots, and usually hopefully in a funny way. You can watch my REBEL HQ videos on youtube
HERE. Some of them have already gotten a half million views each. Not bad I guess.
I also released a clip from my upcoming second hour standup special, and it's about to cross A MILLION VIEWS. How fun. You can see the clip
HERE. I can't wait till we finish the edit on the whole special, so you can enjoy it all.
But you can enjoy something a lot sooner than that. Celebrate my birthday with me AND MY DAD! THIS SATURDAY June 18, my actual bday! At 11am pt / 2pm et we are doing a special matinee GLEIB OFF THE TOP live, improvised, worldwide show on Zoom, and for only the second time ever, my special guest is my amazing dad Nate! The first time we did this people were blown away, myself included, at how funny my dad was. He's pretty awesome at improv. (I guess I get it from somehwere. Who knew?) Get a ticket
HERE. And my dad will also be joining me for our PRE-SHOW VIP meet & greet where we will take your questions, at 10am pt / 1pm et. Get a ticket
HERE. And then after the show, my pop and I are heading to Dodger Stadium, or favorite place to go together, to watch his childhood hero Sandy Koufax get honored with a statue. You can't get a ticket to join us for that. I mean I guess technically you can. Which reminds me of this throwback video of when I got to prank David Bekham for The Late Late Show when we told him he was getting a statue, and the statue did not quite turn out right. You can watch it
HERE. 43 MILLION VIEWS. I get it, James Corden is more popular than me.
But I have the best fans. Thank you always for your support.
