Growing up in a two-room A-frame house in Jacksonville in the 1960s as a poor Black girl, nothing really came easy to me or my family. But my parents did everything they could to nurture my potential. 

I remember my mother once telling me that I was destined to do good and I should never tire in that pursuit – and I've let her words guide me to a career in public service.

That's why I've spent decades protecting and serving the people of Florida – first as a social worker, then as Orlando's first female chief of police, and now, as a congresswoman. 

Friend, I'm ready to expand our Senate majority, end the filibuster and pass the critical legislation that Republicans have been stonewalling. To do good where Marco Rubio won't. But I need your help, because a GOP super PAC is already spending $1.5 MILLION attacking me.
