John, public school teachers are absolutely essential. They have critically important jobs that should be valued and honored. And let’s be clear — no teacher should have to work a second or third job just to make ends meet.
Teachers should be starting their summer vacations right about now. But a 2021 national survey found that more than half of the teachers who responded were currently working multiple jobs.
This is unacceptable, John. Roy is working hard to increase public school teachers’ salaries so that they’re paid what they are worth. Please, add your name to support teacher raises >>>
Teachers go to incredible lengths to give our kids the best possible start — something Roy knows firsthand. Growing up, his mom was a public school teacher in Nash County, and she instilled in him a lifelong respect for our educators.
As governor, Roy has fought to make sure public school teachers get fair compensation that recognizes how hard they’ve had to work to make sure students receive the quality of education they need, even during the pandemic.
But North Carolina teachers are still paid less than the national average, and salaries aren’t keeping up with inflation. Roy is ready to act to make sure teachers are making what they deserve, but he needs Republicans in Raleigh to join him.
