Notable Republican Victories

Rep. Young Kim - California's 40th Congressional District

2015 GOPAC Emerging Leader and incumbent Rep. Young Kim advanced to the
runoff election for California's 40th Congressional District. CA-40 is one
of few swing seats that could help determine which party ultimately
controls Congress next year. Kim will face Democrat Asif Mahmood in the
November runoff.

Rep. Nancy Mace - South Carolina's 1st Congressional District

GOPAC endorsed Rep. Nancy Mace secured the Republican nomination in South
Carolina's 1st Congressional District. Mace was the first woman to graduate
from the Citadel. She will go on to face Annie Andrews in this R+17
district in November.

Mayra Flores - Texas' 34th Congressional District

Republican Mayra Flores won the special election in Texas' 34th
Congressional District, flipping a House seat after Rep. Filemon Vela (D)
resigned in March. Flores will become the first Mexican-born Congresswoman
to serve in the House, her family moved to the United States when she was
just six years old. Democrats had dominated elections in the heavily
Hispanic Rio Grande Valley for 100 years until now, this victory is proof
that Republicans have a winning message with Hispanic voters.

Races to Watch

Eight Competitive State Senate Districts in Washington State & Candidates
to Watch.

Senate District 30

Former Republican Member of the Washington House of Representatives, Linda
Kochmar, is running against Democrat incumbent Claire Wilson and fellow
Republican Mark Christie in the nonpartisan primary election.

Senate District 47

Republican Bill Boyce was the first black Councilman to serve on the Kent
City Council. If elected, he will be the first black Senator from the 47th
District.

Senate District 21

Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Republican Janelle Cass is
running to represent this district. She will be running against incumbent
Democrat Marko Liias.

Senate District 42

Senator Simon Sefzik is Washington's youngest ever State Senator and is
running for reelection to serve in Senate District 42. Senator Sefzik is
committed to providing flood relief, increasing affordability, supporting
law enforcement, and suspending a portion of the state's gas tax.

Senate District 44

Republican Jeb Brewer comes from a background that focuses on building and
improving systems while cutting costs and improving efficiency. He hopes to
bring the same mindset to state government. Brewer is running in the
nonpartisan primary against incumbent John Lovick (D) and Frederick Heater
(R).

Senate District 45

Republican Ryika Hooshangi is a Sammamish attorney, community leader, and
Sammamish Plateau Water District Board President. She is focused on
improving public safety, affordability, and education in the 45th District.
She will be facing incumbent Manka Dhingra (D).

Senate District 26

Rep. Jesse Young is a member of the Washington House of Representatives,
representing District 26-Position 1 since 2014. He is now running for
election to the Washington State Senate to represent District 26. Jesse
grew up in poverty and fought the odds to become a Valedictorian and State
Representative. Young will be facing incumbent Emily Randall (D) and David
Crissman (R) in the nonpartisan primary.

Senate District 38

Republican Bernard Moody is running to represent District 38 in the State
Senate. From serving in the military to serving in law enforcement, his
training led the foundation of his leadership development.

Vice Chair of the Snohomish County Republican Party, Anita Azariah, is also
running for this seat. Her campaign's key issues are public safety, taxes,
affordability, and human rights.

82% of likely U.S. voters are concerned about rising energy and gasoline
prices, including 60% who are very concerned. Only 14% aren't concerned
about the rising price of energy, a [7]new survey by Rasmussen Reports and
the Heartland Institute finds.

A majority of voters are concerned about rising energy costs and favor
increased drilling for oil and gas, although most Democratic voters
consider reducing climate change a higher priority.
