Here is a quick update about the two big outdoor community markets on the Eastside this summer and an update about a project I am working on to ensure the integrity of our elections. Muldoon Farmers Market You are invited to the kick-off event for the Muldoon Farmers Market on June 25. The Market runs every Saturday from 9:30am-2:30pm through Sept. 24, 2022, at Chanshtnu Muldoon Park, 1301 Muldoon Road, Anchorage, AK 99504. Free parking. See the image below for a map of the market. Map of Muldoon Farmers Market Pena Park Market The Pena Park Market is not to be missed! The market is open from 10 am to 6 pm every Saturday and Sunday. It is located at 8100 Starview Drive. Ensuring Election Integrity The special primary election for US Congress last week saw an extraordinary number of ballots rejected by the Division of Elections. Whereas in the primary in 2020 less than 2% of ballots were rejected, in this primary, the Division of Elections currently reports a 9.0% rejection rate in the Mountain View neighborhood of Anchorage, and 15.2% and 17.4% rejection rates respectively in the rural areas of Bering Straits/Yukon Delta and Bethel/Lower Kuskokwim. These are absolutely unacceptable amounts of Alaskans whose votes were disregarded - predominantly lower-income Alaskans and Alaska Natives. This week, I joined my Senate Democrat colleagues in demanding the Lt. Governor and Division of Elections explain these ballot rejections. We need a plan from the Division immediately on how to fix this problem. As always, feel free to reach out to my office if I can be of assistance.
