** Child labor in America today ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

In 1874, dozens of little girls died in a fire in a cotton mill in Fall River, Massachusetts.

National outrage ensued . . . but child labor wasn’t truly reformed for another sixty years.

What does that have to do with today? Plenty ([link removed]) , argues Chris Chriswold in National Affairs.

Once again, children’s welfare is being disregarded for the sake of maximizing profits . . .

. . . and once again, reform solutions are moving slowly and ineffectually.

Griswold explains: “Like all social-media users, children are not so much the customer as they are the labor.”

They produce the content that other children consume. Eyeballs on screens = shareholder gains.

Does the comparison of Instagram and 19th-century sweatshops seem like a stretch?

You might not think so when you see the facts: skyrocketing rates of depression . . . eating disorders . . . self-harm . . . sexual abuse.

Griswold proposes practical solutions ([link removed]) policymakers can take today to protect children from social media.

You can read them all — and why he’s concerned that reform will once again be too slow — right here ([link removed]) .

** What comes after Weimar decadence . . . ([link removed])

------------------------------------------------------------

“Something big is happening to us,” Rod Dreher cautions ([link removed]) in The American Conservative. “Something very big.”

Diplomats and bankers marching behind twerking transexuals during “Pride month” . . . families torn apart by gender ideology . . . Navy officers retiring in disgust . . .

The demoralization of the West is in full swing.

Pride month celebrations just make clear how easily commercialized moral decadence is in our atomized society.

“History shows that what comes after this efflorescence of decadence is horrible,” Dreher writes ([link removed]) .

“Either the West will step back from the brink, or we will face something worse than most of us living in the West today have ever seen.”

Do you share his concerns? See what you think after taking in the full picture ([link removed]) .

** Defining Moral Values ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
The morality of the United States has been changing for quite some time.

But before we can fight back against the changing moral values, it is essential to understand what a moral value is.

As you'll read from this week's article from the archive ([link removed]) , that's a more complicated question than you think.
