The January 6th insurrection was a brazen, violent attack on our democracy stoked by Donald Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories and his Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen — the mob attempted a coup that day.

The January 6th hearings happening now are critical for the American people to learn how the events of January 6th unfolded and who is responsible for this attack on our government. But more importantly, they underscore the fragile nature of our democracy and the importance of ensuring acts of violence against our democracy never occur again.

Ron Hanks, the leading GOP candidate in the primary, marched with the insurrectionists on January 6th and is one of Colorado’s most vocal proponents of the Big Lie.

Hanks even aired a campaign ad where he shot a printer dressed up as a voting machine with a semi-automatic rifle, referencing a conspiracy theory pushed by Donald Trump that has been debunked.

Our democracy is on the line, and Hanks won two straw polls after recent GOP events. We can’t let violent conspiracy theorists like Ron Hanks gain another inch in this race.
