IN THE TRENCHES
Dear Hubby, I Know I Complain A Lot But I Still Love You

Father’s Day is nearly upon us, and today, Samm Burnham Davidson is thanking her husband for everything he does. Well, with some caveats: “Sometimes I can be a little bitter. The endless months of nausea endured through pregnancies, the stretch marks, and the mangled vagina. The endless nights of nursing and infinite mental checklists of child and household responsibilities. Sometimes I think you get off easy.”

But then she takes a step back: “When I actually watch you — I notice that you are exhaustedly giving your entire self to our family, too.” It’s a lovely recognition, and also a nice starting point if you’re struggling for what to write in this year’s Father’s Day card.

Some of us just don't blend very well.” But they make it work, anyway, and today she’s sharing her secret for how.
