This past couple of years have shown us just how much our lives are connected, even when we’re far apart. It’s shown the need for strong action to support working people. We need to provide health care that is free at the point of use, protect our planet, and fight for financial security for everybody.

In our district, we have had the same congressman for over forty years. He fought against school busing in the 1970s and voted for the 1994 crime bill. He put in place the very criminal justice system that I’ve been fighting against as founder of Schools Not Jails. We want to invest in communities, not incarceration.

I’m a Black, bisexual, progressive single mom of two. I know how hard this pandemic has been. Losing loved ones. Trying to make ends meet. Fighting for healthcare. Fighting unjust policing. We can’t stop fighting and that’s why I’m running for Congress. I know how it feels to be marginalized. This is personal for me.
