Hi Jack,
Last spring, Arkansas passed a first-in-the-nation law prohibiting minors from receiving gender-affirming care* here in Arkansas. A judge put a pause on the Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act until the full trial in October, but the state is trying to get that pause overturned this week.
*We know gender-affirming care isn’t something everyone is familiar with, but here’s the run-down: Gender-affirming healthcare provides services like counseling, support, resources, and evaluations. Children would have access to a team of a psychologist, clinical social worker, professional counselors, pastoral care (if desired), endocrinologist, and gynecologist.
Gender-affirming healthcare is lifesaving care that has been proven to prevent suicide and keep kids alive.
Kelly’s opponent (and current AG), Leslie Rutledge, led the efforts to pass the SAFE Act and has stated she will aggressively defend the law in court.
We MUST win in November, or Kelly’s opponent continue to advocate for policies that demonize and harm transgender and non-binary youth across Arkansas. Pitch in now to support our efforts.
Our campaign is prepared to take her on, but we know she’ll have the NRA and other far-right groups funneling money to support her billboards, mailers, and ads. But we have built a network of hundreds of volunteers and supporters ready to make change in Arkansas.
The way we win elections is by organizing, so we’re doubling down on our ground game that will reach all four corners of Arkansas.
Please, if we’re going to send Kelly to Little Rock to advocate for policies that will make a meaningful difference in people's lives, we need you with us.
Will you help us close the gap on our weekly fundraising goal? We’re still $1,093 short!
