Shaving Your Head? Here Are 3 Tips To Remember

01

Go with the grain (sometimes).
If you’re using a razor, shave with the grain of your hair to prevent bumps and razor burn. If you’re looking for the stubbled look, use clippers, but go against the grain for a closer shave.

01

Invest in moisturizer with SPF.
You’re going to have a lot of exposed skin, so keep it healthy with a moisturizer that keeps it safe from the sun. Pro tip: If you don’t want a shiny dome, use a matte moisturizer to tamp down the reflection.

01

Double-check the back of your head.
Nothing says “newbie” like walking around all day with a stripe of longer hair on the back of your head. The first few times you shave your head, use a handheld mirror and your bathroom mirror to make sure you got the entire back of your head. After a while, you should be able to tell by feel, but it never hurts to make sure.
