From my own experiences and those of my family and friends, I’ve seen firsthand the value of an education.
I was born and raised in South Florida, and my father started his business here after attending Miami-Dade Public Schools, Miami-Dade College and Florida International University. I understand how important public education is to even the playing field and create opportunities for EVERYONE in our community.
That’s why I believe that public education should start as early as three years old and should extend beyond high school graduation. Every student should have the ability to afford higher education, whether that be at a four-year university, a community college, or a trade school. And no one should have to be burdened with insurmountable debt in an attempt to better their life.
As a mother, I know how much support our children need to thrive and how much support our families need to help them be successful. My own two daughters are growing up in this community, and I want them and all children to have opportunities to learn and develop.
For far too long, lawmakers have ignored the issues facing our public education system. Investing in our children is not only crucial to advancing progress in our state – it’s the right thing to do.
