Young adults are underestimating the dangers of nicotine

Nearly 1 in 3 young adults believed nicotine to be no more harmful than a cup of coffee, according to new Truth Initiative research. Health misinformation, which has been rampant during the COVID-19 pandemic, can ultimately undermine public health and regulatory efforts to curb youth nicotine use.

This week in tobacco policy news

Tennessee – Gov. Lee signed into law a bill to allow local governments to prohibit smoking in age-restricted venues that are not retail tobacco stores. Retail vapor product stores and adult-only cigar bars are exempt. The state smoke-free law previously preempted local governments from doing so.
