xxxxxx,
While we didn’t get the outcome we wanted for my race for Lieutenant Governor, I am still committed to the future of our state. That’s why it’s so important that we turn out for the Democratic Primary races on June 21.
I’m proud to put my name behind my friend and colleague, Rep. Bee Nguyen, in her race for Georgia Secretary of State. You all know that I have been persistent and tenacious – flipping my Georgia House district in Cobb County after multiple tries. My friend, Bee, has the same kind of fight it requires to serve in a Republican controlled legislature.
During my time in the General Assembly, I have witnessed her work to defend our democracy – not just when it comes to the ballot box, but also when it comes to a fair redistricting process. When Republicans came after the Cobb County Board of Education and the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, Bee stood up for our local elected officials and challenged the constitutionality of drawing out Commissioner Jerica Richardson – not just in committee, but also on the House floor. When Republicans tried to push through harmful cityhood bills in Cobb County. Bee had our backs again.
That’s why she’s earned my endorsement – and the backing of other Cobb County leaders, like former Congressman Buddy Darden, Senator Jen Jordan, Rep. Teri Anulewicz, Rep. Erica Thomas, Commissioner Jerica Richardson, and Schoolboard member Charisse Davis. I’m so excited to see Leader Stacey Abrams put her trust behind Bee.
I met Rep. Bee Nguyen in 2018. I witnessed her strong voice at the Georgia State Capitol, where she has fought to expand voting rights, fund public schools, and protect our right to choose.
Bee has always had the backs of Georgians, including dedicating her career to the nonprofit sector, where she has worked to improve the lives of students in the public school system.
I’m proud to have fought alongside Bee on many critical issues, like funding our public education system, investing in our mental healthcare system – and most importantly, fighting for a free and fair democracy.
