We’re so close to winning on a bill to will help protect kids online in
California.

SumOfUs members like you played a huge role in the State Assembly vote and
now we need your help to get through the State Senate.

Big Tech is mobilizing an army of lobbyists to kill the bill. Let’s make
sure it doesn't succeed -- tell lawmakers to protect our kids online.

John,

Thanks to massive public pressure from the SumOfUS community and other
civil society groups, California's State Assembly just passed the bill to
protect kids online, with almost unanimous support.

It's a testament to the power of this incredible community -- but the
fight isn't over yet.

In a week, the bill will go to a vote in the California State Senate, and
Big Tech will do everything it can to kill it. Let's keep up the pressure
and help make sure this bill gets signed into law.

The UK already passed a similar law last year -- forcing YouTube to turn
off autoplay for under 18s, and TikTok and Instagram to ban direct
messaging between children and adults they do not follow. But these
companies only acted because strong laws forced them too.

These measures shouldn't just be for kids in the UK, children everywhere
deserve to feel safe online.

If we can show there is overwhelming public support for this bill in
California, we can use our momentum to get this law passed not just in
California but in every other state too. But lawmakers will only have the
courage to stand up to these billionaire tech execs if we push them to.
